Optomechanical Accelerometers for Geodesy

نویسندگان

چکیده

We present a novel optomechanical inertial sensor for low-frequency applications and corresponding acceleration measurements. This has resonant frequency of 4.715 (1) Hz, mechanical quality factor 4.76(3) × 105, test mass 2.6 g, projected noise floor approximately 5 10−11 ms−2/Hz at 1 Hz. Such performance, together with its small size, low weight, reduced power consumption, susceptibility to environmental variables such as magnetic field or drag conditions makes it an attractive technology future space geodesy missions. In this paper, we experimental demonstration ground seismic detection by direct comparison commercial seismometer, data analysis algorithms the identification, characterization, correction several sources.

New Vertical Geodesy

Vertical geodesy is undergoing a revolution because of two factors. First, new precise three-dimensional position measurement techniques used over very long distances and based on extraterrestrial reference systems provide a new class and precision of geometric data previously unavailable for geophysical investigations. Second, physical models in tectonic theory for large earthquakes predict cr...

GEODESY The Concept

The following second definition represents a more up-to-date description of geodesy given by the Committee on Geodesy of the U. S. National Academy of Sciences in 1978. • Establishment and maintenance of national and global three dimensional geodetic networks • Measurement and analyses of geodynamic phenomena (earth rotation, earth tides, crustal movements, etc.) • Determination of the earth's ...

Geodesy and connectivity in lattices

This paper generalizes the notion of symmetrical neighbourhoods, which have been used to define connectivity in the case of sets, to the wider framework of complete lattices having a sup-generating family. Two versions (weak and strong) of the notion of a symmetrical dilation are introduced, and they are applied to the generation of “connected components” from the so-called “geodesic dilations”...

Optomechanical nanoantenna.

We introduce optomechanical nanoantennae, which show dramatic changes in scattering properties by minuscule changes in geometry. These structures are very compact, with a volume 500 times smaller than free-space optical wavelength volume. This deep subwavelength geometry leads to high speed and low switching power. The bandwidth of the device is about 4.4 GHz, with a switching energy of only 35...

Lunar Geophysics, Geodesy, and Dynamics

Experience with the dynamics and data analyses for Earth and Moon reveals both similarities and differences. Analysis of Lunar Laser Ranging (LLR) data provides information on the lunar orbit, rotation, solid-body tides, and retroreflector locations. Lunar rotational variations have strong sensitivity to moments of inertia and gravity field while weaker variations, including tidal variations, g...
